August 10, 2018

TEWKSBURY -- A man with an outstanding warrant of removal/deportation pending from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was taken into custody after an investigation into a suspicious person Tuesday, authorities say.

In addition to the warrant, Tewksbury police said in a press release that they charged Richard Guaroa Arias-Santana, 47, of Lawrence, with four counts of possession of a Class E substance and possession of a false RMV document.

Arias-Santana also had a warrant pending for false application for a motor vehicle license, according to the release.

Arias-Santana was discovered by police while they were conducting an investigation into a suspicious person at 2 Main St. At that time, police allege that Arias-Santana gave them a false Massachusetts driver’s license.

Further investigation led to the discovery of illegal substances and the outstanding warrants, according to police.

Arias-Santana was arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday. The outcome of his arraignment was not immediately available.
