Alleged Firearms Thieves Will Be Arraigned

PEPPERELL -- Two people arrested in connection to a firearms theft and the discovery of 16 weapons in a Pepperell home will be arraigned in Ayer District Court on Jan. 2, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Wayne Shay, 36, of Nashua, and Sheri Napier, 36, of Dracut, were arrested last week, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The two face charges as fugitives from justice on New Hampshire arrest warrants.

Shay was charged with seven counts of unlicensed possession of an assault weapon and one count of the following: improper storage of a large capacity firearm near a minor, possession of a large capacity firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with one prior violent/drug crime, possession of a firearm without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Napier was also charged with seven counts of unlicensed possession of an assault weapon. She also faces one count of the following: improper storage of a large capacity firearm near a minor, possession of a firearm without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

The investigation followed a “recent” theft of firearms in Nashua, according to Massachusetts State Police. Following the arrest of Shay and Napier in a Dracut residence last Thursday, authorities said they located 16 stolen firearms, 17 high-capacity magazines, a 100-round drum magazine and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

The arsenal found in a residence on 21 Townsend Street in Pepperell, included three AR-15-style rifles, two AK-47-style rifles, four other semi-automatic rifles and multiple pistols, according to police.
