Mohave County Supervisors extend county manager’s $194K contract
The Mohave County Board of Supervisors on Monday voted to extend a $194,342 contract with County Manager Mike Hendrix through Scottsdale-based Educational Services Inc.
The 4-1 vote would grant Hendrix a $154,875 salary, with the remaining sum contributed to the state’s retirement system. The contract will employ Hendrix for another year, with the option that Hendrix’s employment may be terminated at any time without severance.
A former Mohave County administrator, Hendrix retired from his position in 2014. He has served as Mohave County Manager for the past three years under a contract with Educational Services Inc.
Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson was the sole abstaining vote in Hendrix’s contract renewal.
“There was an addendum in the contract that didn’t define vacation or holiday time,” Johnson said. “We make contracts all the time, and we’ve been getting lax on our contracts. I would have liked to see that fixed before it was approved.”
