Clinton Takes Less Congested Jogging Route

February 8, 1993

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton gave commuters a break this morning when he took his jogging entourage on a different route, avoiding the city’s main traffic arteries.

Clinton was later than usual for his morning run, leaving the White House at 7:30 a.m. EST, dangerously close to prime commuting time for the thousands of people who drive into the nation’s capital each day.

But his 10-car motorcade took him to Hains Point, an isolated peninsula that juts into the Potomac River, where he ran three miles in 24 minutes.

The new jogging path was a welcome change for commuters, many of whom were left tied up in traffic along some of Clinton’s other routes.
