Yankees Activate Clemens

May 22, 1999

CHICAGO (AP) _ Roger Clemens was activated from the 15-day disabled list tonight before his start against the Chicago White Sox.

Clemens was placed on the DL on April 29, retroactive to the previous day, because of a strained left hamstring. He hurt the hamstring and had to leave after two innings of his previous start April 27.

Clemens, shooting for an AL-record 18th straight victory, had to wait to make his first appearance in nearly a month when the start of Friday’s game was delayed by rain.

To make room for Clemens, the Yankees optioned right-hander Todd Erdos to Triple-A Columbus.
