West Florence residents advised to boil water
FLORENCE, S.C. -- Residents of several West Florence neighborhoods Friday are being advised to boil their water for a minute before consuming it following emergency repairs to a water line.
Ice made with the water should be discarded.
Affected neighborhoods are the 3400 Block of West Palmetto Street, 3300 Block of Dogwood Chase Lane, 3300 Block of Ebenezer Chase Lane, the 900-1100 Blocks of Oak Chase Lane, 3300 Block of Poplar Chase Lane, 3300 Block of Maple Chase Lane and the customer located at 1102 Ebenezer Road, according to a release from the city.
According to a news release from the city, “There has been no confirmed contamination of the system. However, because of the loss of pressure a slight potential for bacteriological contamination exists. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control requires the City of Florence to issue this advisory.”
Tests on the water will be completed Saturday at which time the city will issue additional information on the boil water advisory, according to the release.
