high school roundup Immaculate boys down New Milford

January 10, 2019

NEW MILFORD — The first game in close to two weeks was a rebounding one for the Immaculate boys basketball team.

Shaking off the sour taste of suffering a first defeat, the Mustangs used a strong third quarter to pull away from New Milford 55-44 on Wednesday night on the road.

Quinn Guth scored 21 points to lead Immaculate (4-1), which lost to Brookfield on Dec. 28. Jack Woods added 11 for the Mustangs, who host New Fairfield on Friday night. Immaculate led 25-20 at the break and held New Milford to eight points in the third quarter.

Immaculate also topped New Milford on Dec. 22 during the Candlewood Classic; the Green Wave dropped to 5-2 on Wednesday with their only two losses coming to the Mustangs.

The Mustangs held the hosts to 33 percent shooting from the field and 23 from deep.
