Police: Man throws gas on store clerk during Lowell robbery
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Lowell police are looking for a man they say threw gasoline on a convenience store clerk and threatened to set him on fire before making off with hundreds of dollars.
Police say the suspect, dressed in black, with a black hat, and wearing sunglasses, walked into Jerry’s Food Store carrying a small bottle filled with gasoline at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
The suspect threw some gas on the worker and showed a cigarette lighter.
The man demanded all the money in the register and fled with $800 to $900.
The clerk was not hurt.
Police have released surveillance images of the suspect and are asking members of the public who recognize him to call.
