Burt Kahn, Quinnipiac AD and Coach, Dies
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) _ Burt Kahn, former basketball coach at athletic director at Quinnipiac University for more than 30 years, has died. He was 74.
Kahn, who had lived in Hamden, died in Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday, his family said.
As the school’s AD from 1961 to 1995, Kahn expanded the school’s sports program from three men’s teams to 16 men’s and women’s teams.
Kahn was the school’s basketball coach from 1961-1991, and had a record of 459-358, with six seasons of 20 or more wins.
Quinnipiac named its basketball court after Kahn in 1996. He will be inducted posthumously into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in September.
