CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Police say a man's body was found in a drainage ditch in Casper on Tuesday.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports the body was found after a resident alerted police to a foul odor.

Police Sgt. Joey Wilhelm says the Natrona County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy, which may direct the course of the department's investigation.

Wilhelm says the death is not being investigated as a homicide, but that possibility still remains. The level of decomposition indicates the man has been dead for some time.

Wilhelm says the man has not been identified yet because of the condition of the body.
