Black ice to cause possibly ‘hazardous travel’ during A.M. commute
BRIDGEPORT — Some commuters might hit delays headed to work Friday morning because of reports of localized black ice, according to the National Weather Service.
In a special weather statement issued at 6:22 a.m., the NWS said, “localized black ice has developed across portions of the area this morning on untreated surfaces where temperatures fell below freezing.”
Overnight, temperatures hovered in the low-30s, which patches of ice popping up throughout the state. Many roadways had been treated with salt by Friday morning, but some areas still remained icy.
“Hazardous travel is possible especially on bridges and overpasses,” the NWS statement said. “Motorists are urged to drive with caution.”
