Seven arrested in Torrington drug bust
TORRINGTON — Torrington Police arrested seven suspects and seized marijuana, heroin and cocaine during a bust on Thursday Sept. 17.
Torrington Police Lt. Doug Weeks said officers attempted to serve a warrant at 1153 High Street around 10:45 a.m. The officers saw people looking out the window, which was then shut and police were denied entry to the house.
“(Officers) went to try to serve a warrant on somebody that was supposed to be living there, and that person wasn’t at the house at the time,” Weeks said.
The officers could smell marijuana burning in the house and received a search warrant. While executing the search, two people walked out of the house and told the officers no one else was in the house. They, and an additional five people, were held on interference charges: Cameron Akins, Anthony Ellett, Clayton Paules, Annalis Rocha, Reginald Smith, Michael Trujillo and one juvenile.
The police also seized about a half of a pound of marijuana, small amounts of what is suspected to be black tar heroin and crack cocaine, three firearms and paraphernalia.
As of the afternoon of Sept. 18, Weeks said the department is waiting for an investigation by the ATF to be completed before additional charges are filed.
