Randy Kent Grassmeyer, 67, of Holdrege passed away on Dec. 19, 2018, at the CHI Health - Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Celebration of Life Services for Randy K. Grassmeyer will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege with The Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Randy was born Dec. 12, 1951, in Grant to Darrell and Lavonne (Nelson) Grassmeyer. Randy received his education from Columbus Public Schools, graduating from Columbus High School with the class of 1970.
On Dec. 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Deborah Ann Davenport at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, and to this union the couple were blessed with two children: Kara Nel and Tyler Gene. The family made their home in Columbus, where Randy was a salesman for Cornhusker Office Supply. In 1978, the family moved to Holdrege, where Randy began a long career as a State Farm Insurance Agent.
He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege. Randy enjoyed traveling with his State Farm golfing buddies, and a highlight of his love of golf was attending the Master’s Tournament. Family was the most important thing to Randy, and he cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his loving wife of 47 years, Debby Grassmeyer of Holdrege; his two children: Kara Borg (Randy) of Wassenaar, The Netherlands; and Tyler Grassmeyer (Kathryn) of Alexandria, Virginia; six grandchildren: Cohen, W. Grant, and Reid Borg; and Charlotte, Jack, and Finn Grassmeyer; his mother, Lavonne Grassmeyer of Columbus; one brother, Bryan Grassmeyer (Lynn) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; two sisters: Kay Sprunk (Tim) of Platte Center; and Linae Anderson (Tim) of Omaha; sisters-in-law: Billie Ammerman-Young of Bellevue; and Mary Seligmann (Harold) of Cave Creek, Arizona; and several other relatives and friends.
Memorial Book Signing will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, with the family greeting from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Randy’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
