DEER SEASON

BISMARCK, N.D. — North Dakota’s 16 1/2-day deer gun hunting season opens at noon Friday. The 55,150 licenses that were doled out this year are a modest increase that continues a trend in recent years. The state’s wildlife chief says western North Dakota has seen growth in harvests of white-tailed and mule deer, while the east has seen “more challenges” in success. UPCOMING: 250 words.
