May 22, 2019

“The Light of Day,” a solo outdoor art exhibit featuring large-scale abstract paintings by emerging artist Alex Sanzo, will be displayed throughout the landscape of a 14-acre private Greenwich estate on Sunday, June 9, from noon to 4 p.m.

Refreshments will be served and ample parking will be available at the open-to-the-public event at 63 John St. Click here to RSVP and for more information, or e-mail a@alexsanzo.com or call 203-550-3981. A rain date has been scheduled for Saturday, June 15, noon-4 p.m.

Sanzo, a Greenwich native, has been creating art as a music producer and songwriter since his time at Greenwich High School. He moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to pursue a career in music and subsequently spent years there working in the music industry. With lack of freedom of expression, he suffered a creative drought of inspiration, according to a news release. Sanzo credited finding painting as a reinvigorating creative medium that has opened up levels of expression he felt were blocked through the cookie cutter aspects of the music industry.

“Painting is never something I thought I would create. My entire life has been revolved around music. But to say that any one artistic medium or another is better to express ones self is a lie. I create paintings the same way I create music. I just follow that ineffable intuition inside and let things unfold naturally,” he said in the news release. “There is no academic basis for my work, but only felt experiences through life translated into art. Maybe you call these felt things pain, love, happiness, etc. ... but art calls them nothing. That is why there is art, to express the unexplainable ... the ineffable. No matter what we do in life, if we don’t share it with the world, it will never see ‘the light of day.’ ”
