TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) _ Casey McBeth scored two touchdowns and Toledo’s defense forced seven fumbles and surrendered just 89 yards in a 41-0 Mid-American Conference victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Toledo (7-3 overall, 5-3 MAC). Eastern (1-10, 1-7) fell into a last-place tie with Ohio U. in the conference.
Toledo’s defense limited Eastern to 23 yards rushing on 44 attempts; the Eagles managed to complete just 5 of 18 pass attempts for 66 yards.
The Rockets built a 35-0 halftime lead as McBeth scored on runs of 1 and 13 yards. Reggie Walls added another 1-yard touchdown run, while quarterback Kevin Meger hit Tom Boyd on a 60-yard touchdown pass and Chad Brown returned a fumble recovery 18 yards for another score.
Rusty Hanna added five extra-point kicks and field goals of 40 and 42 yards.
McBeth led all rushers with 53 yards on 15 attempts. Meger completed 11 of 21 pass attempts for 254 yards with one interception.
Eastern had seven fumbles, losing five. Toledo also was turnover-prone, throwing an interception and losing two of four fumbles.
