PHOTOS: History-making Woman Firefighter Sworn In

A’Leia Stull made history Monday when she was sworn in as the first career female firefighter in the history of the Kingston — Forty Fort Fire Department. Her chief and others around the area believe she is the first full-time woman firefighter in Luzerne County. Stull, 29, became a volunteer firefighter while in high school in her rural hometown of Harford in Susquehanna County. In recent years, she had served as a paramedic for Commonwealth Health EMS. Above: Stull smiles Monday night as her husband Tyler pins her firefighter’s badge on her at the Kingston Municipal Building. Right: Stull gets a hug from her grandmother, Monaa Adams.
