SYDNEY, Australia (AP) _ Italy survived the longest game of the Olympics so far, staying undefeated in the qualifying rounds of men's volleyball by defeating Argentina 40-38, 25-18, 25-14.

The Argentines (2-1) used up all their energy staying with the Italians point for point in the first game. Italy trailed 35-34, but fought back to win.

Andrea Sartoretti had 17 kills and Luigi Mastrangelo added 15 for the Italians (3-0), who next play the Russians in a match that should decide first place in Group B.

Marcos Milinkovic had 16 kills to lead Argentina, which is trying to hold on for a spot in the quarterfinals.
