Uniroyal Moving Tire Production
WOODBURN, Ind. (AP) _ Uniroyal Goodrich said today it has begun moving production of a tire line out of state and will make plans to move a second production line elsewhere after striking workers refused to accept concessions on work rules.
The production of bias minispare tires is being moved to the company’s plant in Ardmore, Okla. Plans to produce the BFGoodrich T/A light truck tires in plants at Alabama were moving forward.
The company had said moving the lines would cost 240 jobs out of the 1,200-employee union workforce at the northeast Indiana plant.
``We are at an impasse, and we are extremely disappointed for all concerned,″ said David Lowe, director of company labor relations, in a news release.
