W-B Man Admits To Molesting Woman Staying At His House

February 20, 2019

WILKES-BARRE — A city man accused of molesting and photographing a woman who passed out on his couch after being fed margaritas pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony count of aggravated indecent assault. Mark C. Danko, 50, of 294 Bowman St., was accused of groping and licking the incapacitated woman after feeding her drinks until she felt nauseous. According to prosecutors, the victim went to Danko’s former home on South Main Street in Hanover Twp. the night of Feb. 23, 2018. Danko was making margaritas and pouring them into her glass, and the victim told police she was on her third drink when she went to the bathroom and became extremely light-headed. Danko’s wife, who had been upstairs sleeping with their children, came downstairs shortly after 1 a.m. and saw the woman in need of help, so she helped Danko put her on the living room couch, prosecutors said. The woman seemed OK so Danko and his wife went to bed. But prosecutors said Danko returned and began fondling the woman. The woman went in and out of consciousness as Danko groped and licked her, before she finally woke up and found Danko was no longer there, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said Danko admitted to photographing the woman, but maintained he had deleted the images. In exchange for Danko’s plea to the felony offense, prosecutors dropped additional charges including sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough ordered Danko to be evaluated for sex offender registration and set sentencing for 9 a.m. May 23. Contact the writer: jhalpin@citizensvoice.com 570-821-2058
