Police charge 14-year-old girl with capital murder
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A 14-year-old girl is among those facing adult capital murder charges in the shooting death of a man killed in his car.
Jackson police announced Thursday that they had arrested and charged 14-year-old Crystal Marshall.
She’s accused of participating in the Sunday shooting of Joseph Baker, who died Wednesday in a hospital.
Also charged with capital murder are 17-year-old Chrishun Jones and 20-year-old Orlando Carey.
All three are jailed without bail.
Jackson police Sgt. Roderick Holmes says he’s not sure whether any of them have a lawyer.
Police say they believe someone was trying to rob Baker, who was shot multiple times while inside his car.
Holmes says investigators aren’t sure yet what the three might have been trying to take from Baker, or who actually shot him.
