Torrington man charged with assault and battery
TORRINGTON — The Goshen County Attorney’s Office has charged a suspect following an aggravated assault and battery over the weekend.
According to a press release from the Torrington Police Department, on Dec. 15 officers were dispatched at roughly 1:45 a.m. to a reported assault in the parking lot behind a bar in the 1900 block of Main Street in Torrington.
“When officers arrived, they were advised that two Torrington residents, (redacted), had been threatened by a man with a gun after a brief argument.”
TPD officers, assisted by deputies from the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office, searched the area. A TPD officer found the suspect’s vehicle at the City Slickers RV park and attempted, unsuccessfully, to contact the suspect. The TPD obtained a search warrant for the RV parked on the lot and, assisted by the sheriff’s office, executed the warrant at 4:22 a.m. They found the suspect inside the RV and took him into custody without incident. During the search, officers also allegedly recovered a pistol from the RV.
Goshen County Attorney Ken Brown identified the suspect as Jesse Lee Huff and said he had been formally charged with aggravated assault and battery for threatening to use a drawn deadly weapon.
