DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Grayland King rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown and the Delaware State defense intercepted four passes, leading the Hornets to a 20-12 victory over Morgan State Saturday.

The win ended a two-game losing streak for the Hornets (3-4, 1-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), as turnovers prevented the Bears (1-6, 0-5) from mounting a consistent scoring attack.

Custa Patterson went 18-of-27 for 189 yards for Morgan State, but the second of his three interceptions allowed Delaware State to take an eight-point lead midway through the third quarter. Rashaan Matthews hit Darnerien McCants on a 20-yard pass to put the Hornets up 14-6.

Late in the third quarter, another Morgan State turnover allowed Delaware State to get in the end zone. After a fumble recovery by David Hughes, Tommie Mims ran 17 yards on first down to give the Hornets a 14-point lead with seven seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Morgan State mounted nine-play, 67-yard drive on its next possession, punctuated by Ali Culpepper’s five-yard touchdown run.

But Patterson’s third interception, with 5:27 left in the fourth quarter, allowed Delaware State to run out the clock. Morgan State got the ball back with only seven seconds remaining in the game.

It was a tighter affair in the first half, with Delaware State taking a one-point lead into halftime. Morgan State struck first on Sean Smith’s 61-yard interception return.
