Oil Company Names New President and CEO
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) _ Directors of the Argentine oil giant, YPF S.A., elected a new president and chief executive officer on Friday to replace Jose Estenssoro, who was killed in an airplane crash.
Nells Leon, former chief operating officer, was unanimously elected president and CEO. Miguel Madanes was elected executive vice president, a company statement said.
Estenssoro, who led the former state-owned company’s privatization and then presided over YPF, was killed Thursday when a private plane crashed in the Andes mountains 22 miles south of Quito, Ecuador.
Also killed in the crash were Estenssoro’s adviser, Ricardo Zinn, Chilean oil executives Juan Oedrals Gilli, Manfred Hecht Millersteinber and Jorge Rodriguez Sobarzo, and the plane’s two-man crew.
