Bradley 83, Creighton 67
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Hersey Hawkins scored 35 points and grabbed eight rebounds Thursday night to lead No. 17 Bradley to an 83-67 Missouri Valley Conference basketball win over Creighton.
Bradley, 18-4 overall and 8-2 in the conference, scored seven straight points early in the second half to take a 40-31 lead and put the game out of reach.
Creighton, 13-13 overal and 5-7 in the conference, hurt itself with 17 turnovers, many of which turned into easy fast-break baskets for Bradley. The Braves gave up the ball nine times.
Other players in double figures for Bradley were Donald Powell with 18 and Luke Jackson with 15.
Rod Mason led Creighton with 31 points and Chad Gallagher added 10.
Bradley hit 48 percent of its shots from the field compared with the Bluejays’ 43 percent.
An ankle injury kept Bluejay guard James Farr out of the game. Farr, a junior, had averaged 14 points per game.
