Day one of Girls State Golf Championships in the books
The Girls State Golf Championships got underway yesterday in rainy weather across the state.
At the Class ‘A’ competition at Norfolk Country Club, Lincoln Southwest has the team lead at 341. They have a 17 stroke advantage. Omaha Marian’s Jalea Culliver and Omaha Westside’s Kaitlyn Hann share the clubhouse lead with a 76. They lead by a single stroke. Norfolk’s High’s Kylie Blume carded a 97 and Leah Vanderheiden shot 114. In Class ‘B’ at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Omaha Duchesne put up a 330 and have a 30-stroke lead after the first day. Omaha Duchesne’s Anna Boor carded a 74 and has a three-stroke advantage. Class ‘C’ is holding their competition at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte. Cozad and Ogallala share a team lead with a 390. They lead by five strokes. Columbus Scotus & West Point-Beemer shot 444, Battle Creek put up a 447, Norfolk Catholic carded a 452, and Hartington Cedar Catholic shot 455. Ogallala’s Harley Hiltibrand & Mitchell’s Kenzey Kanno share the clubhouse lead at 83. They have a one-stroke advantage. West Point-Beemer’s Brook Diekemper is tied for fifth place at 88 and Pierce’ Sydney Erickson is tied for ninth at 91. Norfolk Catholic’s Anna Kassmeier put up a 97, Hanna Neesen shot 110, Kalee Gilsdorf carded a 117, Carly Thramer put up a 128, & Autumn Alder shot 133. 41 golfers from the Northeast Nebraska area are participating in the events.
