REGINA, Saskatchewan (AP) _ John Hood rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries and had two receptions for 60 yards as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats routed the Saskatchewan Roughriders 44-6 in the CFL.

Damon Allen, the younger brother of Los Angeles Raiders star Marcus Allen, completed 11 of 24 attempts for 149 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 67 yards on seven carries for the Tiger-Cats in Sunday’s game.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Cody Custer of Wickenburg, Ariz., recorded an 80 in the semifinals and added an 89 in the final to take the bull riding title in the Original Coors Rodeo Showdown at West World.

Custer, the current world points leader, edged Jim Sharp of Stephenville, Texas, and three-time national champion Tuff Hedeman of Bowie, Texas, in Sunday’s competition.

Sharp, who had the semifinal round’s best score at 83, recorded an 86 in the final. Hedeman scored an 85 in the final.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Temple University basketball player has been charged with trying to steal a car parked outside a dormitory.

Police said William Cunningham, 18, and two other men approached David Scarpello, 26, and a friend who were sitting in a Cadillac late Saturday night.

The three offered to buy the car, and when told it wasn’t for sale they said they would take it.

Scarpello and his friend fled ″when one of them reached into his pants as if he had a gun,″ Detective Andrew Goldenberg said.

The two returned with a police officer, who saw Cunningham leaving the car, Goldenberg said.

Cunningham, a freshman, was charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. The other two suspects were not caught.

As a senior at Glen Hills High School in Augusta, Ga., the 6-foot-11, 240- pound Cunningham averaged 13.5 points and 11.6 rebounds.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - Scot Hollonbeck won the men’s 10-kilometer national championship and Candace Cable and Jean Driscoll shared the women’s title in the $35,000 Riverside Rumble for wheelchair racers.

Hollonbeck maneuvered the rain-slicked course Sunday in 20 minutes, 38 seconds, followed by Craig Blanchette at 20:47 and James Briggs at 20:54.

Cable, Driscoll and Ann Cody-Morris were all timed at 25:07.
