SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Brian Bruso scored a career-high 26 points as San Diego’s frontline dominated in a 91-76 victory over Portland on Saturday night.
The Toreros scored a season-high in points as they shot 62 percent from the floor (31-of-50). San Diego also made 21-of-27 free throws.
Bruso and frontcourt mates Sean Flannery (20 points) and Brian Miles (15) combined to scored 61 points. Bruso made 8-of-11 shots, Flannery hit 8-of-15, and Miles made all six of his field-goal attempts.
The Toreros (10-6, 2-2 West Coast Conference) took control of the game in the first half with a 13-0 run. Miles scored seven points and Bruso had six in the run as San Diego led 24-11.
Portland (6-10, 1-3), which trailed 50-41 at halftime, lost for the eighth time in its last 10 games.
Jimmie Rainwater led the Pilots with 19 points, but was held to just four in the second half. Rainwater made 4-of-5 3-pointers in the first half.
San Diego, which dominated the boards 34-19, took a 57-42 lead just two minutes into the second half. Portland never cut the lead to less than double figures.
