More temp housing coming to Y’Stone
Yellowstone National Park is making plans to add six modular homes and 39 RV pads to house seasonal workers in the West Yellowstone, Montana, and Canyon Village areas.
Some 25 RV pads in the West Yellowstone area would encircle an existing warehouse in a government building area south of the entrance gate, and would be occupied by general store employees. The Canyon portion of the project would alleviate overcrowded dormitories used by lodging employees by adding up to 15 RV pads and the six homes to an abandoned camping loop.
The housing project is in the earliest, “scoping” stage of assessment, though park officials hope to finalize an environmental review and sign off on a decision document by “early summer.”
The public can weigh in on the plans through Feb. 28 by going to ParkPlanning.NPS.gov/concessionshousing.
