PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Tomora Young scored 17 points to lead No. 12 Rutgers over Pittsburgh 65-54 on Wednesday night.

Rutgers (19-4, 11-1 Big East) squandered a 16-point first half lead and trailed 38-34 with 15:37 to play before Pitt coach Traci Waites was called for a technical foul. The Scarlet Knights then went on a 14-3 run to go up 48-41 with 9:34 to go.

Pitt (8-12, 3-9) scored the next four points to get within two, but Rutgers went on a 9-2 run sparked by five points from Tammy Sutton-Brown and pulled away for good.

Monique Toney led Pitt with a career-high 20 points, but was held to just three points in the second half. She keyed Pitt's 12-0 run to end the first half with seven points, including back-to-back 3-point baskets.
