Second annual Goshen County Soup Cook-off at the Torrington Farmers Market
TORRINGTON, Wyo. — It’s time to get your friends or co-workers together, dust off grandma’s old recipe or create your own, for the second annual Goshen County Soup Cook-off. Bring your soup creation to the farmers market on Thursday, Oct. 11, and let the taste buds do the judging.
The registration fee is $10 per entry, and team or individual entries are welcome. Winners will be determined by people’s choice, so please plan to make at least three gallons of soup so you don’t run out, or you may miss out on votes. Creative soup names are also encouraged.
We also encourage all soup lovers to come out to the Torrington Farmers Market on Oct. 11 beginning at 4 p.m. in the pavilion in City Park to pick your favorite soup. For $5, you get a mug, provided by the Torrington Farmers Market, and you will then be able to sample each soup and vote for your favorite. Proceeds will go to support the Goshen County School Backpack Program, which provides food to needy families in Goshen County. The inaugural soup cook-off last year was a great success and raised $485 for the backpack program. Let’s see if we can do even better this year.
For more information and to register your soup entry, go to bit.ly/soupcontest2018 or contact the Goshen County Extension Office at 307-532-2436. You can also pick up a registration form at the farmers market. Register by Friday, Oct. 5, so we can make accommodations for all entries.
