2 die as SUV crashes into box truck in South Carolina
DACUSVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say two people in a SUV have died after their vehicle crashed into a box truck in South Carolina.
Troopers say the driver of the SUV ran off the side of state Highway 186 around 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Dacusville and when they tried to get back on the highway, ran into the oncoming box truck.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said SUV passenger 19-year-old Michaela McKittrick as trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene, while the SUV driver, 21-year-old Adam Hewit was also trapped and died at the hospital.
Troopers say both victims were wearing seatbelts.
Troopers say the box truck driver was also taken to the hospital. His condition was not known.
The wreck remains under investigation.
