Ganim opens cooling centers in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT-Tuesday’s soaring temperatures and sultry humidity convinced Mayor Joe Ganim to open the city’s transit center, senior centers and libraries for residents to use and cool down.

An air quality control alert was issued as the thermometers hit 92 degrees and rising. The alert is in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

As the tropical temperatures continue this week the following cooling centers will be open at these locations and times.
