Postseason push ... Diamondbacks tap closer ... No easy rides in regionals

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Trail Blazers can secure a place in the postseason with a win at home tonight. They’ll face a Brooklyn Nets team that’s in in the middle of a seven-game road as they battle for one of the remaining spots in the Western Conference. It’s part of a four-game NBA schedule.

UNDATED (AP) — A pair of Western Conference teams will be looking to wrap up playoff spots in the NHL tonight. Nashville is in the middle of a three-game road trip and can clinch a berth with a win against the Wild in St. Paul. Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights need just one point and they’re in. They’ll face the Blues in St. Louis.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have picked their closer. Greg Holland has earned the job. The 33-year-old right-hander returned from Tommy John surgery in 2017 to lead the National League with 41 saves for Colorado. But he went 2-2 with a 4.66 ERA while splitting his time between St. Louis and Washington last season.

UNDATED (AP) — Duke, Virginia, UNC and Gonzaga won’t have easy roads to the Final Four in an NCAA Sweet 16 filled with high seeds. Fourteen of the top 16 seeds reached the second weekend, including all of the No. 1, 2 and 3 seeds. Auburn, a 5 seed, and Oregon, a 12, are the only outliers from that group. The regionals begin play Thursday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former New York Knick Cal Ramsey has died at 81. Ramsey who starred at NYU in the 1950s before joining the Knicks. After his playing career, Ramsey worked for the Knicks as a color analyst and a team ambassador. The Knicks say he died of cardiac arrest at a rehabilitation center in Manhattan.
