NEW YORK (AP) _ Dan Naulty, who had 33 relief appearances for the New York Yankees this year, was cut Wednesday to clear roster space for newly re-signed reliever Allen Watson.

Naulty, 29, was 1-0 with a 4.38 ERA for the Yankees, and went 2-1 with a 4.35 in seven games for Triple-A Columbus. He wasn't included on New York's postseason roster.

New York acquired Naulty on Nov. 16, 1998, for third baseman Allen Bulter. Naulty had been eligible for salary arbitration after making $300,000 last season.

Naulty was designated for assignment. The Yankees have 10 days to trade him, place him on unconditional release waivers or send him outright to the minors.
