No. 17 Vermont 76, Cent. Connecticut St. 55
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) _ Sheri Turnbull scored 25 points, one of four Vermont players who scored in double figures, as the No. 17 Catamounts beat Central Connecticut 76-55 Tuesday night.
Vermont (15-0) led 46-24 at halftime and was never threatened by the Blue Devils (4-12).
Carrie LaPine (12), Jennifer Niebling (11) and Kari Greenbaum (10) also contributed to Vermont’s scoring attack.
″What makes them unique is their starting five are all threats. They don’t have a weakness,″ Central coach Brenda Reilly said. ″They all play tenacious defense and the team has a great anchor in Turnbull.″
Margaret Van Cott led the Blue Devils with 19 points, while Tula Kofitsas added 13.
The Blue Devils played without backcourt starters Paige Martin and Melissa Prindiville, both out because of knee injuries.
