Easton PD: Bridgeport man accused of forcing friend’s checks, using her ATM card
EASTON-A town woman is now the friend in need.
Police charged a 25-year-old Bridgeport man with fleecing a friend out of nearly $40,000 by illegally using her ATM card and forging several of her personal checks.
Davian England, of Griffin Avenue, Bridgeport, turned himself into police after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest. He is charged with third-degree larceny identification theft and three counts of forgery.
A female victim told police that she became friends with England in late September, 2017 and purchased several items to “help him out.” However she claims England got hold of her ATM card and checkbook and used both to transfer money into his account.
Police said when the woman told England he owed her $61,000, he returned $22,900 but could not pay the rest.
England is free on $20,000 surety bond pending a Sept. 27 appearance in the Golden Hill Street courthouse.
