Local high schools named among top schools in Ga., U.S.

Cherokee County’s six traditional public high schools have made the list of the best high schools in Georgia, according to the latest listing from U.S. News and World Report.

Two high schools were among the top 50 schools in Georgia. Etowah High School was ranked 43rd in the state, and Creekview High School was ranked 45th.

Schools were ranked based on college readiness, or proportion of students passing at least one AB or IB exam, math and reading proficiency and performance on state tests, underserved student performance, how many students took and passed multiple AP and IB exams and graduation rate.

Cherokee County School District high school rankings in the 2019 report are:

Creekview High School, No. 45 in Georgia rankings, Np. 2,009 in national rankings

Etowah High School, No. 43 in Georgia rankings, No. 1,995 in national rankings

Woodstock High School, No. 57 in Georgia rankings, No. 2,267 in national rankings

Sequoyah High School, No. 66 in Georgia rankings, No. 2,560 in national rankings

River Ridge High School, No. 72 in Georgia rankings, No. 3,128 in national rankings

Cherokee High School, No. 173 in Georgia rankings, No. 7,069 in national rankings
