KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) _ A train slammed into a passenger bus at a railway crossing in southern Sindh province on Sunday, killing at least eight people, officials and eyewitnesses said.

The accident near Ranipur occurred when the bus tried to cross a marked railway crossing. Apparently a gate that closes when a train is passing through was left open, although police said an investigation was continuing.

The dead were all passengers on the bus. Train service was disrupted for about four hours as a result of the accident.
