BULLHEAD CITY — Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River Thrift and Gift, at 967 Hancock Road, Suite 7, is taking donations of gently used items to help the kids in the community.

They do not accept clothing, mattresses, and old technology, televisions and monitors.

BULLHEAD CITY — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary nationwide donates

$3 million a year to fight cancer.

NEEDLES — Needles Riverview Cemetery welcomes all tax-exempt donations to help support Riverview and/or Old Pioneer Cemeteries. Donations are being sought for replacement of large American flags that line the cemetery roads.

Anyone interested in making a donation is encouraged to contact Cheryl Sallis, cemetery operations manager, at 760-326-2113, ext. 315.


BULLHEAD CITY — Individuals and groups are being sought to be involved in the planning process for CornFest 2018.

CornFest, a family friendly event organized by the Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River, is planned for October.

Several planning meetings will be held.

The funds generated by this event stay in the community, supporting a number of initiatives conducted by the Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River.

NEEDLES — The nonprofit Friends of El Garces organization continues to sell brick pavers that can be used as a memorial or commemorative item.

The pavers are being placed around the fountain in the front (track side) of the historic Harvey House. Pavers cost $75; $50 for a duplicate brick.

Forms can be picked up at the Needles Chamber of Commerce, 100 G St., or at the Needles Regional Museum, 929 Front St.

BULLHEAD CITY — The Mohave County Children’s Foundation Inc. is a volunteer fundraising charity for local families who have children with serious or life-threatening medical conditions.

BULLHEAD CITY — The Bullhead City Meals on Wheels program will be holding a “dine in” fundraiser at Black Bear Diner, 1751 Highway 95 in Bullhead City, on Sept. 11.

From 4 to 7 p.m., 10 percent of all proceeds at the restaurant will be donated to Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels provides a vital service to the community. Last year, the program delivered more than 40,000 meals to seniors in need in Bullhead City.

NEEDLES — Needles Regional Museum needs a new roof and is asking for help from the community in raising the $16,000 it will take to secure the city’s historical treasures. Mail donations to Needles Regional Museum, P.O. Box 978, Needles, CA 92363.

The museum is a 501(c)(3) organization staffed entirely by volunteers.


BULLHEAD CITY — Vendors, crafters and others are sought for the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce’s Oktober Fest, to be held Sept. 29 at Bullhead Community Park.

The event is scheduled to include food, a carnival and other attractions.

BULLHEAD CITY — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization of men and women who seek their personal holiness by works of charity.

The society’s principle objective is not the spiritual advancement of its members, but the doing of good for someone by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering regardless of race, ethnicity and/or religion.

There are two stores, one across from the other at 780 and 781 Marina Blvd. The store at 780 Marina Blvd. has clothing and housewares and is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The store at 781 Marina has furniture and electronics and is open from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

Proceeds are returned to the community of Bullhead City/Fort Mohave/Mohave Valley to provide assistance to the less fortunate.


BULLHEAD CITY — Veterans United Inc. of Bullhead City is offering commemorative bricks in various locations throughout the two Veterans United-maintained parks.

The bricks are 4 inches by 8 inches. One option is three lines of 20 characters; characters include all letters, numbers, punctuation marks and spaces. Donation for this brick is $125. A second option is three lines of 12 characters with a logo. Donation for this brick is $150.

LAUGHLIN — We Care Cancer Support Inc. will conduct a 9-pin no tap tournament fundraiser at Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Riverside Resort bowling center.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. with bowling beginning at noon.

Entry fee is $20 per person and includes shoe rental. Cash prizes will be offered and a 50/50 raffle will be held.

Proceeds will remain in the Tri-state to help cancer patients to continue with a quality of life at no cost to them or their families.

We Care Cancer Support Inc. offers gasoline assistance for treatment appointments, limited medical and prescription co-pays and many other services.
