Griebel to debate Lamont, Stefanowski at UConn
After two weeks on the bench, petitioning candidate Oz Griebel will finally appear alongside both major party candidates in a debate.
Griebel will participate in a debate next week at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, hosted with WFSB. The debate, which will include both Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Bob Stefanowski, will be broadcast live from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday on Channel 3.
“We’re looking forward to getting to debate both Bob and Ned at the same time,” said Chris Cooper, a spokesman for the Griebel campaign. “We think the viewers will see a clear difference between oz and the two others because he’s the only one offering workable solutions.”
Griebel was barred from participating in the last two debates because WTNH required candidates to receive at least 10 percent in an independent poll to earn an invitation. Griebel debated Lamont Sept. 5, but Stefanowski did not participate.
WFSB will also host a debate featuring the candidates for lieutenant governor — Democrat Susan Bysiewicz, Republican Joe Markley and petitioning candidate Monte Frank — Sept. 27. The pre-recorded debate will stream online at 7 p.m.
