Jail inmate dies after experiencing breathing issues
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate at a North Carolina jail has died after experiencing breathing issues.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release 56-year-old Calvin Graham was being treated on Christmas Eve for breathing issues when he collapsed.
The sheriff’s office said medical staff and jail officers began CPR, and emergency personnel continued to treat Graham and tried to resuscitate him on the way to the hospital, but couldn’t save him.
According to the news release, officials say Graham’s death appears to have been from natural causes and there is no evidence of foul play.
Jail records show Graham was arrested Feb. 11 for assault on a female and habitual misdemeanor assault. He was being held on a $25,000 bail with a court date set for Jan. 17.
