NZ wins toss, bats in 2nd ODI vs. Sri Lanka
HAMILTON, New Zealand (AP) — New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to bat Thursday in the second limited-overs cricket international against Sri Lanka.
McCullum said the pitch for the match looked “a little bit dry” and full of runs. Batting first would allow New Zealand to “execute our aggressive bowling plan” under lights later in the day, he said.
New Zealand made three changes to its lineup, naming Ross Taylor in place of the injured Kane Williamson, Daniel Vettori for allrounder Grant Elliott and fast bowler Matt Henry in place of Mitchell McClenaghan.
Sri Lanka made one change, naming Rangana Herath in place of Shaminda Eranga as both teams chose two spinners.
New Zealand leads the seven-match series 1-0 after winning the first match at Christchurch by three wickets.
