LORMAN, Miss. (AP) _ Alcorn State sophomore Reuben Stiff had 20 points and 10 assists to lead the Braves to an 87-84 squeaker over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday night.

Stiff, a 5-9 guard, topped a trio of Alcorn State scorers in double digits to overcome a 47-43 halftime deficit, despite the hot shooting of the Golden Lions’ Frederick Luckett, who had 28 points and 14 rebounds.

Alcorn State junior Chelonzo Miller added 19 points and led the Braves on a 16-3 run to open the second half, giving Alcorn State a 61-50 lead with 15:19 to play in the second half. Sophomore Derric Davis had 12 points and seven rebounds.

The win raised Alcorn State to 1-1. Arkansas-Pine Bluff dropped to 1-2.
