Alton Lauersdorf, 92, Lowell

Alton “Buddy” “Effie” R. Lauersdorf, 92, of Lowell, died at home on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

The celebration of Effie’s life will begin at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, from 4 until 7 p.m. It will continue at the church on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. Rev. Bruce Wietzke will officiate, and burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.

Alton Robert Lauersdorf was born on Aug. 16, 1925, in the town of Lowell to Frank and Emma (Boldt) Lauersdorf. On Sept. 30, 1950, he was united in marriage with Marjorie Kohn at Salem Lutheran Church. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Lowell throughout their marriage. Effie was a constant caretaker; caring for others, neighbors’ farms and the village. He delivered meals-on-wheels for a number of years and looked forward to the visits he would have with those he served. Buddy was the grounds keeper for St John’s Catholic Cemetery and was on the Lowell Cemetery Board. He was a dedicated, lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was the last survivor of his confirmation class and was the oldest member of the church. He was also on the church council and was head of the building and grounds. In his spare time, Buddy enjoyed playing cards with friends, family, and neighbors.

Effie is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, James Lauersdorf (Mary Osterhoff) and Diane Kolbow; grandchildren, Pam Kolbow and Andy Kolbow (Rachael Derr); great grandson, Michael Kolbow; cousin, Erline Baird; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Charles; and son-in-law, Michael Kolbow.

Memorials may be made in Alton R. Lauersdorf’s name to Salem Lutheran Church.
