Jingle Berry Bash to benefit free concert series
La PORTE — Arts in the Park, in collaboration with T-Berry’s Diner, will host a Jingle Berry Bash on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., to benefit La Porte’s free summer concert series at Fox Park.
For the past 18 years, concerts of various musical genres have been presented in Fox Park in conjunction with City Band performances. While these concerts are free to the public, the Arts in the Park organization must raise up to $20,000 to pay the bands and provide sound.
To raise funds for this cultural effort, the Jingle Berry Bash will encompass a 15 percent Restaurant Give Back from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at T-Berry’s Diner at 501 Lincoln Way.
Coupons will be required, and are available in advance on the Arts in the Park or T-Berry’s Facebook pages, at the diner and on the Arts in the Park website, artsintheparklaporte.com. Copies also may be requested at the checkout counter that evening. Takeout and delivery orders also qualify for the 15 percent donation.
The celebratory atmosphere will be enhanced with live Christmas music from noon to 2 p.m. by popular local artists, including James Neary at noon, followed by Arts in the Park Executive Director Lisa Smithson and T-Berry’s co-owner David Thornberry and Sue McLain. Family Christmas Karaoke will start up around 4 p.m.
Kids can make a Christmas craft, Santa and his Elf will join the merriment at 5 p.m. and all diners will receive a complimentary Jingle Berry Fizz drink with a meal purchase!
Arts in the Park further will offer a silent auction with many great local items that can be used for Christmas gifts, or to treat yourself for the holidays.
In addition, another local nonprofit, the PAX Center, will benefit as participants are encouraged to bring items for a food drive.
Local businesses and offices, plan a staff luncheon for Dec. 20; reservations are suggested as seating is limited! Call (219) 362-6261. Families are welcome to enjoy the festivities while supporting Arts in the Park’s summer concert & fine arts series.
