Ex-firefighter charged in armed robberies geld on bail
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A former Massachusetts firefighter charged with committing a series of armed robberies has been held on $60,000 bail.
The Republican reports that Erik Henry, of Chicopee, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 14 charges for allegedly robbing three banks, two convenience stores and a gas station during a five-week period last fall. He was still a Chicopee firefighter at the time.
Police say in one case he used his mother’s car and a toy gun to rob a bank.
Family members have previously said the 36-year-old Henry has been struggling with drugs.
He was arrested in late November and a Hampden Superior Court grand jury on Feb. 6 indicted Henry on 14 charges.
His lawyer did not comment in court.
