BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol says two horses have died after a vehicle crashed into them on a road.

MHP spokesman Chase Elkins says the car was traveling north Thursday morning when it crashed into the two horses in the road. News outlets report the crash in Hancock County caused the vehicle to go off road and then hit a power pole.

Both horses were killed. Elkins says the vehicle’s driver was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans with serious injuries.
