2 circuit judges appointed in West Virginia
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has appointed two circuit judges.
Justice on Wednesday announced the appointments of Debra McLaughlin of Berkeley Springs to the 23rd Judicial Circuit and Debra Scudiere of Morgantown to the 17th Judicial Circuit.
McLaughlin is an assistant prosecutor in Jefferson County. She fills the seat vacated by the retirement of Judge Christopher Wilkes. The 23rd circuit serves Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.
McLaughlin previously served as a circuit judge in 2017 and 2018 and was Morgan County’s prosecutor from 2002 to 2017.
Scudiere is an attorney who previously served as president of the West Virginia State Bar. She fills the seat vacated by the retirement of Judge Russell Clawges Jr.
The 17th circuit serves Monongalia County.
