Mildred Meyer Bartels passed away Aug. 28, 2018.
She was born May 6, 1918, the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Siekman) Meyer on the Meyer farm in Rich Township. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Country Hills.
In 1941, she married Harold Bartels, of rural Monee. They farmed there 30 years until her husband passed away in 1972. She moved to Frankfort in 1978, where she joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, in 1972; her daughter, Marilyn (Bartels) Johnson, in 2011; and her infant grandson, Neil Bartels, in 1981.
Surviving are her three sons, Kenneth (Karen) Bartels, of Frankfort, James Bartels, of Lockport, and Randall (Susan) Bartels, of Peotone; son-in-law, Elias Johnson, of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Douglas (Theresa) Bartels, of Las Vegas, Nev., Kristin (Aaron) Albers, of Springfield, Mo., Kimberly (Thomas) Stagner, of Springfield, Mo., Jacqueline (Matthew) Creighton, of Chatham, and Brian (Amy) Bartels, of Morton; and 10 great-grandchildren, Allison Agnew, Connor Bartels, Nicole Albers, Grace and Tyler Stagner, Mitchell and Georgia Creighton and Claire, Xavier and Isaac Bartels.
Krzysztof Rusc was her caregiver for many years. He provided great care for her during her last days on earth. The family “thanks him for all his great concern and companionship.”
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, playing cards and traveling. She was blessed with good health most of her life.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Frankfort.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, until the 11 a.m. funeral services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Luther Lane, Frankfort. Interment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Richton Park.
